Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

Make crispy mozzarella sticks in your air fryer without deep frying. This recipe is quick and easy.

Ingredients
  

For the Mozzarella Sticks
  • 1 lb Mozzarella string cheese cut into halves
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 Large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
For Serving (Optional)
  • Marinara sauce for dipping

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Baking sheet
  • Shallow bowls

Method
 

  1. Prepare your breading station. Place flour in one shallow bowl. In a second shallow bowl, whisk the eggs. In a third shallow bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Take each piece of mozzarella cheese and dredge it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off. Finally, coat it thoroughly with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  4. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6-8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through cooking if desired for even browning.
  5. Carefully remove the mozzarella sticks from the air fryer. Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For best results, ensure the mozzarella sticks are well-coated with breadcrumbs. If you don't have string cheese, you can cut a block of mozzarella into stick shapes.
