Equipment

  • Pot
  • Large pitcher

Method

  1. In a pot, combine 1/2 cup water, cranberries, honey, ginger, all-spice, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil over high heat. Boil for 5 minutes, until cranberries begin to burst. Remove from heat and let cool. Remove ginger slices, all-spice berries, and cloves. Strain out cranberries if desired.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the cranberry syrup, cranberry juice, orange juice, and vodka. Chill until ready to serve.
  3. Just before serving, add the sparkling water. If desired, rim glasses with chai sugar. Fill glasses with ice and pour the punch over. Garnish each drink with an orange slice, mint, and star anise if desired.

Notes

For the chai spice sugar rim: Combine 1/4 cup sugar with 1 teaspoon chai spice or cinnamon. Moisten the rim of each glass with a slice of orange or water, then dip into the sugar mixture.
