Ingredients

For the Stroganoff
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
For Serving
  • 12 ounces egg noodles cooked
  • Fresh parsley for garnish chopped

Equipment

  • Large skillet

Method

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, until mushrooms are tender.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, sour cream, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
  5. Stir in the Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  7. Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef. For a richer sauce, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
