Method
- Gather all your ingredients and equipment before you begin. The churro dough comes together quickly.
- In a small saucepan, combine 150 ml water, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp neutral oil. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar and salt.
- Remove from heat and stir in 60 grams All Purpose Flour until a smooth ball forms. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Fit a thick piping bag with a closed star tip (like a 2D tip). Place the churro dough into the bag and twist the end. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Pipe 2-inch churro bites onto the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim the dough.
- Preheat your air fryer to 360F for 2 minutes.
- Place half of the churro bites in the air fryer basket, ensuring space between them for air circulation. Spray with cooking oil.
- Fry for 10 minutes. Turn the bites over at the 5-minute mark for even cooking. Continue to fry for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy outside, and slightly soft inside.
- While the first batch cooks, prepare the cinnamon sugar. In a bowl, mix 100 grams white sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
- Immediately toss the cooked churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Set aside.
- Add the remaining churro bites to the air fryer and repeat the cooking and coating process.
- Serve warm with your favorite caramel sauce.
Notes
These churro bites are best served warm. You can pair them with a simple 3-ingredient caramel sauce for an extra treat.
