Ingredients
  

For the Au Jus
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter or beef drippings
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour optional, for a thicker au jus
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. If using flour, garlic powder, and onion powder, add them now and stir for 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk to combine. Bring to a boil over high heat. The mixture will thicken slightly if you used flour.
  3. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Serve hot with prime rib, roast beef, or French dip sandwiches.

Notes

This recipe makes 2 cups of au jus. The recipe photos did not use flour. Store leftover au jus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
