Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Burgers
  • 1 pound ground turkey preferably 85% lean
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For Serving
  • 4 burger buns
  • your favorite toppings lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc.

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
  2. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the turkey burgers for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are cooked through. Avoid pressing down on the burgers with your spatula, as this can squeeze out the juices.
  5. Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill for the last minute of cooking, if desired.
  6. Serve the turkey burgers on the buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of olive oil or a little mayonnaise to the burger mixture. Ensure your ground turkey is not too lean, as fat helps with juiciness.
