Ingredients

For the Frappuccino
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee frozen into ice cubes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. sugar or to taste
  • 1.5 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 0.25 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. instant coffee granules optional, for stronger coffee flavor
Optional Topping
  • 1 whipped cream

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Ice cube tray
  • Microwave

Method

  1. Place all ingredients except the whipped cream into a high-powered blender. Blend until the ice cubes are crushed.
  2. If the frappe is not blending smoothly, let it sit for a couple of minutes and try blending again. Letting it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before blending can improve the texture.
  3. Pour the blended mixture into glasses and top with whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

For the coffee ice cubes, 2 cups of brewed coffee typically fills one standard ice cube tray.
If you do not have a high-powered blender, you can soften the coffee ice cubes slightly in the microwave on the defrost setting for about 45 seconds. Be careful not to melt them too much, as this can result in a runny frappe.
