Method
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add the canola oil and salt. Stir in the all-purpose flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 2 to 3 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and divide it in half. Press each half into a greased 12-inch pizza pan.
- Combine the tomato sauce, dried oregano, and dried basil. Spread this mixture over each pizza crust.
- If desired, add your choice of toppings. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the toppings.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned.

This recipe makes two pizzas. You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. For a healthier option, load up on vegetable toppings.
