Servings: 4 people
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed (or a 12-ounce bag of pre-trimmed green beans)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
Optional toppings
  • 1 chopped bacon
  • 1 toasted almonds
  • 1 Parmesan cheese
  • 1 squeeze of lemon juice

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Sheet pan
  • Serving Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Place the green beans on a large rimmed sheet pan. Drizzle with oil and add the salt and pepper. Toss to coat. Spread the green beans out in a single layer on the pan. For easier cleanup, you can line the sheet pan with parchment paper, though this may slightly reduce caramelization.
  3. Roast for 10-12 minutes, or until the green beans are tender. If you prefer them slightly crispier and browned, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Transfer the roasted green beans to a serving bowl. Top with your desired optional toppings, such as chopped bacon, toasted almonds, Parmesan cheese, or a squeeze of lemon juice.

Notes

This recipe is designed for speed and convenience, making it ideal for busy weeknights. The green beans can be prepped ahead of time and roasted just before serving. Feel free to experiment with different toppings to suit your taste.
