Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lbs. lean ground turkey (93/7)
  • 2 large sweet potatoes chopped (about 1.5 lbs total)
  • 1/2 large yellow onion diced
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup water for potatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • to taste Salt and fresh cracked pepper
Turkey Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. water for seasoning mix

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Separate pan

Method

  1. Wash and dry the sweet potatoes. Chop them into bite-sized pieces, leaving the skin on. Cut the potato into 1/2" rounds, then divide each round into approximately 8 pieces.
  2. Dice the yellow onion finely and mince the garlic cloves.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 Tbsp. of olive oil, the minced garlic, and the diced onion. Cook until the mixture is fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped sweet potatoes to the skillet with the garlic and onion. Add 1/4 cup of water and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything well, cover the skillet, and simmer over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes until the potatoes become tender.
  5. Stir the potatoes frequently while simmering to prevent burning.
  6. While the potatoes cook, cook the ground turkey in a separate pan over medium heat until it is fully cooked through.
  7. Mix the cinnamon, smoked paprika, salt, and nutmeg in a small dish with 1 Tbsp. of water. Add this seasoning mixture to the cooked turkey and stir to coat the meat evenly.
  8. Add the seasoned turkey to the skillet with the potatoes. Stir everything together well to combine the ingredients.
  9. Serve the hash by itself, with eggs, or mixed into a salad.
